Dame Dash & Kareem “Biggs” Burke Talk Big L Recording a Jay-Z & DMX Battle

Will this footage ever surface?

In a recent interview, Damon Dash discussed the infamous battle in The Bronx Pool Hall between Jay-Z and DMX. While the Ruff Ryders camp told Roc-a-Fella not to record any of Darkman X’s rhymes, Dame revealed that Big L was on hand for his cohorts, to record Jigga’s verses.

Looking back at the historic settings, he cited that footage from the event could’ve created a ground-breaking documentary and felt all parties involved would feel the same way today.

Dame’s former business partner and long-time friend, Kareem “Biggs” Burke spoke with Complex about the lost footage saying, “Me and Big L went to junior high school together and me and McGruff went to the same high school. But that DMX/Jay battle was incredible, seriously.

A guy named Steve Mack, had a group named the Harlem Knights. He and Dame were arguing one day and he was like, Jay is wack, the Harlem Knights is this and that, so Dame brought Original Flavor’s Tone Hooker and Roughness and Steve brought Waah, who in turn brought DMX because he was the best they had. Some people say DMX won and some say Jay won, it was that kind of battle.”
