While out there, Jay was caught slipping and held up in a room for a few hours until someone with power stepped in. Initially, Jay thought that he would have protection through the entire city of Los Angeles on the strength of ties to Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Although he runs with armed security and government agents now for security; this was long before he stopped looking over his shoulder.
