Frank Ocean Defeats Father’s $14.5 Million Libel Suit

Earlier this year, Frank Ocean‘s father filed a defamation lawsuit against him seeking $14.5 million in damages. Now, Law 360 reports that the singer has defeated the suit, after his father, Calvin Cooksey, “failed to meet necessary elements to make his defamation claim.”

Cooksey sued his son for a 2016 Tumblr post which described him using a gay slur towards a transgender waitress when Frank was a child. He claims it lost him “financial opportunities in film and music.”

“It was a super sad case,” Franks attorney, Keith Bremer, told Pitchfork. “I am sorry that my client had to go through this and am glad that we could bring closure.”
