When folks think of Chicago, they probably gravitate to the South Side because of how dangerous it is, but there’s other parts of the Chi that are just as dangerous.
G Herbo comes from the East Side and in his new documentary City of Sorrow, that’s where he returns to. He visits Hyde Park Academy to talk to the kids and encourage them to follow their dreams, have faith in themselves and keep focus. Even with the odds stacked against them, he wants them to know that they can make it too, in no matter what area of life they decide to pursue.
The documentary also paints of picture of where Herb came from and how Mikkey Halsted got involved in the beginning. From him rapping on the corner on his block, to his come up in the game. You’ll learn more about G in this piece.
