GZA Buys Vinyl For The First Time Since 1976

Philly, what up!

It’s crazy to think that GZA has not bought a piece of vinyl in 40 years. Just insane. Not only because that’s longer than the time we’ve been on this earth, but because that means The Genius was nine years old when he last bought a record. The reason behind that? Apparently, when he got into Hip Hop in the ’80s, it was already on cassette, so he didn’t need to cop vinyl.

Either way, he was out in Philadelphia browsing through records and came across some that he was really feeling. He said a lot of them took him back to the music he grew up to and even called it “sounds like old school pinball machine mixed with video arcade.”

He ended up purchasing selections from 2pac, 3rd Bass, a Wu-Tang Clan vs. The Beatles mashup, and more. You can check out the episode of Analog Migration with GZA up top.
