HBO expands The Godfather of Soul’s rich story with new documentary.
OSCAR Award-winning director, Alex Gibney and music legend Mick Jagger recently produced a full-length feature documentary on the life and career of James Brown. HBO has officially purchased rights to the upcoming Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown, which centers on the early years of his career. The forthcoming project series as a direct follow-up to his biopic film Get on Up, which released just last month.
After having a decent outing at the box offices, HBO will also be airing the biographical drama film preceding this upcoming documentary. Jagger, who’s one of Brown’s biggest fans, opens up on their historic time together on sharing the stage at The T.A.M.I. Show. James would open for the Rolling Stones, which Mick even cited his reception being just as big – if not bigger than theirs.
