While The Warm Up was the second mixtape of J. Cole‘s now hugely successful career, it’s often considered the game changer. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the project, giving the Fayetteville native a chance to speak on how far he’s come since the release in 2009 through an open letter. It doesn’t feel like five years have passed, but the project’s story of a kid with hopes and dreams was, and still is, a soundtrack to much of hip-hop – us included. If you’re looking for some inspiration or simply an insight on Cole’s experiences, the letter is a must read after the jump.
*UPDATE* Dollar & A Dream Tour announced, exclusively performing The Warm Up.
