Over the week, we saw Hall of Fame HOV having a rare conversation on Twitter Space with Alicia Keys for the west Manhattan singer’s KEYS album. While many were viewing it as promo for A’s new project; we viewed it as Jay having a brief conversation with the general public, as a tease for his upcoming project (first teased with Swizz Beatz).

Throughout 2021, we’ve seen Jigga featured on Roc Nation’s The Harder They Fall soundtrack with songs guest starring Jadakiss, Conway the Machine and Kid Cudi. However, we also saw him dropping singles with Nas, Nipsey Hussle, DJ Khaled, Drake and the reunion with Kanye West last summer.

With almost 10 new verses in the year 2021 alone, many of us were expecting the album to release before the end of the year. Unfortunately, Adele has been murdering everything in her way on charts, as well as Mariah Carey dominating all streaming for the month.

Now, the reason why the Jay-Z 2021 album didn’t release, is because it’s almost impossible to put something better than 4:44 at this point in his career. Putting out something mediocre after a perfect album isn’t something the career of the rap Icon wouldn’t want to do.

We saw the same thing happen to Drake with his delayed CLB album, as he wasn’t ready to release music at the time. If you paid attention, Drake didn’t do one interview for the album and acted like it didn’t exist the entire fourth quarter. Some believe it was a forced business tactic from his label and the Sirius XM partnership, he inked last year to take advantage of his buzz.

It was first reported by DJ Akademiks, that Drake was skeptical on releasing something not better than Scorpion, as Jay is having the same dilemma with the pending effort. Now, with Jay’s rollout, we’re sure he isn’t looking to put out anything mediocre, which could explain the reunion with Kanye West.

Soon after the DONDA album release, Ye teased the official release date for Watch the Throne 2, which was also set to arrive in 2021. With Kanye set to road next year for his World Tour, some are expecting him to also work on the Jay project after Ghostface Killah’s Supreme Clientele 2 album.

The theme from the upcoming album we were told, would be Political HOV, addressing everything going on in the world today.
