Billboard recently caught up with Hip-Hop’s golden child Joey Bada$$ as he discussed his street dreams of being born into the culture. Joey went on to discuss perfecting his craft everyday by mastering his own music after producers would leave the studio and also doing his own cover art in his early career. He also touches on making music from the his vision in his thoughts with wanting to release the most organic material possible without limiting himself to any sound.
Being from the city labeled a “rapper,” he feels it’s already enough to prove with a lot of talented artist and fans being arrogant and impatient which making in NYC, he can make it anywhere. With the “NEW New York” movement in full bloom from the likes of Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, Action Bronson, A$AP Mob, Smoke DZA and Mr. MF eXquire; he likes where the cities headed.
The interview closes out with Joey speaking on his debut album which he expects to touchdown summer/fall which he’s still in shock over living out his dreams; but still remaining optimistic for his future.
