Kamaiyah – A Good Night In The Ghetto [Documentary]

Earlier this year Kamaiyah set hip-hop ablaze when she dropped her debut mixtape A Good Night In The Ghetto. Filled with hyphy music, some great West Coast beats and a co-sign from YG, the Oakland MC looks like she’s well on her way. Landing on YG’s “Why You Always Hatin,” which features Drake put her in the ear of even more people. Interscope quickly capitalized off her hype, and signed her to a deal recently.

Today she’s premiering a new documentary, directed by Chris Simmons as she takes a tour of her East Oakland hood while she discusses growing up, and the moments leading up to her headlining her first show.

The documentary gives a peek into where Kamaiyah comes from musically, who she hangs around and so forth. There’s a formal introduction to her Big Money Gang crew, which is what she’s been repping since the release of A Good Night In The Ghetto. She also touches on losing her very close friend James De’Andre Burks to cancer, which is the most touching part of the entire documentary.

There are cameos from YG, Kehlani, DJ Mustard and more scattered throughout the doc and it gives a deep peak into the new Oakland artist. She promises new music is on the way and we can’t wait for that.
