Kendrick Lamar & Kanye West Treat Disabled Fans with Gifts

Christmas came in July for two separate fans of Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West.

Over the weekend during his stop in Dallas, Kdot met up with one of his biggest fans backstage of the Damn Tour. Jennifer Phillips, who has been in a wheelchair following a 2007 car accident that left her with a spinal cord injury. Though she’s in a wheelchair, she hasn’t let that stop her from accomplishing things like get her college degree, go on ski trips and make her way to plenty of concerts. One that that got in her way was her form of transportation. The van in which she used wasn’t the best one so Phillips started a GoFundMe page last year in efforts to purchase a more modified vehicle for her and her wheelchair.

Thanks to Kendrick Lamar, that page is no longer active. During her meet and greet with Lamar at the concert this weekend, he gifted Jennifer with a wheelchair accessible van. She took to social media to reveal the life-changing gift and the inspirational words from Kendrick Lamar. Not only did she receive the van, King Kendrick also gave her an autographed Damn jacket with a long message attached: “Thank you for always supporting me. Your [sic] a inspiration for me. You are strong and positive. Your kind and beautiful. For all the years of inspiring me, the least I can do is make sure your comfortable driving the city. A gift from me to you. Your always appreciated! — K. Lamar.”

Kendrick Lamar wasn’t the only one feeling generous this week. Kanye West, who has been in hiding for some time and recently made a few appearances, also did something special for one of his fans. Tyler Wesley, a paralyzed teen who was involved in a automobile accident five years ago, posted a photo on his Instagram account on Tuesday. In the picture, Wesley showed off his new pair of all white Yeezy Boosts 350 and a note signed by Kanye West.

Thank you #KanyeWest & @adidasoriginals for the Custom "Cream White" Yeezy Boost 350 V2 🔥

In the note, Yeezy called Tyler a “inspiration” and thanked him for sharing his journey. Tyler Wesley has been documenting his progress as he recovers from the accident, showing himself working with physical therapists.

For this life, I cannot change..
