Lil Wayne’s Manager Reveals ‘Tha Carter V’ Was Going to be Free

Still no update on the release of Carter V, though

A few days ago, Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Braynt made a trip to the big apple to sit down with the Rap Radar Podcast. During his visit, the conversation centered on the whereabouts of Tunechi’s delayed project, Tha Carter V, as well as both Ca$h Money and Young Money being mature enough to not hold any transactions from their artists like Drake and Nicki Minaj after falling out.

However, in an interesting revelation, Cortez state that he and Mr. Carter originally planned to drop CV in 2014, after the release of his single Believe Me – which headlined the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour. The project was set to be released FREE as an exclusive through Google Music, but those plans were scrapped when Birdman didn’t agree with its roll-out.

Bryant emphasized that CV is Weezy’s marquee release, so this could explain why both disgruntled sides are making sure everything is right to ensure the project is presented right.

Watch more from interview, where he also touches on JAY Z being the one person who wasn’t scared of Universal Music Group, when he release the Free Weezy Album on Tidal.
