lojii and Swarvy are your new favorite rapper-producer duo and you might not know it yet. Think Doom and Madlib, Jeremiah Jae and L’Orange-type chemistry, from the delivery down to the irregular track lengths. The Philly/LA pair are releasing their joint album DUE RENT on March 31st, and today we’re premiering the third single from it, titled “blok.” The best way to describe their sound is a phrase lojii used on their last release, “do u“: grimy and gorgeous.
“‘blok’ is an ode to what I see everyday when I step outside,” lojii told us about the track. “When I look thru the windows of the buses I ride, and what my peoples go thru on the daily in the inner city. Especially when we black, latinx, and low income.” Swarvy adds, “‘blok’ was the first track him and I made together. The first time I had him in the studio, I made the beats for both “blok” and “potion” for him in that same session.”
