There has been an arrest in the untimely murder of King Von. This past weekend, Atlanta Police announced that Timothy Leeks was in custody after the fatal shooting of the Chicago rapper. The 22-year-old suspect was hospitalized with a gunshot would and now faces charges including felony murder.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, this is what Atlanta police spokeswoman Marla Jean Rooker had to say about the arrest:
“Mr. Leeks is in police custody at Grady Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound. The homicide of Bennett is closed with this arrest.”
Based on police reports, Von was one of six people who got shot after an argument transpired outside of an Atlanta nightclub. The incident ended in gunfire, which killed two people and has one in critical condition.
As of now, it’s still unclear who was the person pulling the trigger.
The incident is being treated as an officer-involved shooting by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, following two off-duty police officers being in the middle of the chaos. Those two officers were working at the club and intervened.
Authorities say that Von was shot outside of the club’s parking lot before the officers were involved.
