Irv Gotti’s relationship with Jay-Z has been affected in many ways, through past moves of his. While not realizing how serious the beef was between the two, beyond their immediate rap camps, he was playing both sides of the field, including producing Jay-Z’s Super Ugly diss track at Escboar.
Months later, we witnessed Irv try and sign Nas to Murder Inc. records, which almost happened before the infamous FEDs raid of the label with some trying to link them Kenneth Supreme.
While they were in the clear, Jay-Z formed an alliance with their mortal enemy, 50 Cent, as the two both worked together at Rebook to promote respective projects at the time. This led to a huge fallout internally with Jay-Z and Murder Inc, as Chris Gotti explains everything below.
Considering Irv had known Jay-Z before everyone at Roc-a-Fella, we did find it quite odd he would frequently try to work with people that had issues with Mr. Carter. That also included Prodigy of Mobb Deep, as he was forced to remove Vita from their classic cut, The Learning (Burn).
