July 10th, 2012 – August 20th, 2016: this is the time in which we wanted a to hear a new Frank Ocean album. Who knew we would have to wait that long for a new album from one of our favorite singers? There were countless false dates, delays, lies, and rumors. But now that the album is here, none of that matters. Frank Ocean ocean delivered an amazing album, and there’s no debating that. His talent and song writing skills are undenibale, and Blonde proves that and a lot more.
He lends his political side on the track “Nike,” which kicks off the album. There’s a gospel nod in “Godspeed,” “Skyline To” plays out like a poem that details summer, sex and California and the list of the various things he does on the album goes on and on. Andre 3000 makes a guest appearance that we’re pretty sure you’ve heard about as well, and besides him, Frank is solo the entire album. At 28 he has matured a lot since his last album, and the album shows it. He’s wondering about where life will go from here, does he want a family etc. Blonde is a deep dive into the mind of the singer, backed with some great musical moments.
