R. Kelly Threatens To Sue Lifetime for ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ Docuseries

Tonight, Lifetime will be airing their highly controversial and anticipated Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, which is set to tell the story of the alleged women who were mental, physical, and sexual abused by the R&B veteran and how they were affected then and now.

It seems as if the Kelly team isn’t a fan of this because the legal team is threatening to sue the network if they don’t stop the three-night airing.

According to Kelly and company, the series is full of false allegations from girls Lifetime knows are lying (they claim to have audio recordings to prove it), with the women participating looking to defame his name for personal gain.

According to Detroit Free Press, celebrities like Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, JAY Z and Erykah Badu were asked to speak on R. Kelly but refused.

Lifetime will continue to air the documentary regardless of the threats. “Lifetime has always been a brand that champions women’s stories,” they said.
