Staff Picks: Albums We Listened To In 2014

stackofcds

It’s crazy to say, but 2014 is about two weeks away from ending. This year in music was not particularly jaw dropping and some went as far as to say it was the worst year in Rap, ever. Besides Nicki Minaj releasing The Pinkprint, most high profile rap artists stayed away from albums this year. We actually didn’t even see a platinum album until Taylor Swift ran game with 1989.

As far as out here at OnSMASH, our staff used that time with the shortage of rap releases to explore other genres. We discovered new bands. We listened to more R&B.

Keep in mind, these aren’t the “Best Albums Of The Year,” but merely a reflection of what we all were listening to during the span of the 12 months that are now behind us. As you’d expect, everyone has a bit different taste, so that will show with each person. It is our hope that we put you on to something that you may not be familiar with at the moment and maybe helps expand your range in what good music is.

If there were any albums in our particular lists that you didn’t see but you feel strongly about, by all means, share it with us in the comments. Thanks for rocking with is in 2014!
