Just a week away from his 31st birthday, Nashville, TN rapper Starlito has plans on relocating from his native to the Lone Star State, Houston, Texas. Prior to his move, Lito drops off his new album titled I’m Moving To Houston. Welcoming to the place they call home as well, Houston natives Sauce Walka, Killa Kyleon and Propain who all appear as guest features as well as Young Dolph, Dee-1, Don Trip and others. Trakksounds is called upon to handle the production duties of the entire project and he does so with ease as Lito and his guests sound at their best on the 12-track affair.
Before you stream the project the project in full below, peep what Lito had to say about his move and the album itself.
“‘I’m Moving To Houston,’ which I’m releasing on the day Pimp C passed away, is about me paying homage to a place with a strong rap heritage, Lito told TSS. “I LOVE Houston, Texas and could see myself growing old there. I spent a week and a half there this spring prior to SXSW and recorded with quite a few artists and producers from there. One of my frequent collaborators, TrakkSounds, lives there and I typically record in his studios when I’m passing through.
Around September, we decided that we had so much music together that we needed to do something with it. I had just finished reading Sweet Jones: Pimp C’s Trill Life Story by Julia Beverly and was inspired by the numerous parallels between both our early lives and careers. Losing my uncles T. Amaru Shakur and C. Lamont Butler greatly influenced me and my music. On a personal level, every loss is a lesson and I’ve lost what seems like the majority of my peers I came up with. It’s taught me to take nothing for granted, and I treat every project like it could be my last.
