Sylvan LaCue Makes Coffee, Talks New Album ‘Apologies in Advance’

It’s been a long journey for Sylvan LaCue from the days of QuESt, but the patience has paid off.

Following the release of his new album Apologies in Advance last month, the Miami rapper caught up with Mikey Fresh of VIBE to discuss everything going on in his life. For it, the pair hit up New York City’s Ludlow Coffee Supply, where LaCue gets behind the counter and whips up a caffé latte for two. “I started out working at Blue Bottle Coffee in Oakland, and I had a real affinity for coffee — and I still do,” says LaCue, who wants to open up a coffee shop of his own called “Wise Cup.”

As well as coffee dreams, he also talks about the concept of his new album, inspiration from JAY-Z’s 4:44, having too much empathy and more.
