The Homies – Shake

#Shake

If you need an uptempo, danceable rap jam, look no further than The Homies’ new video single “Shake.” I admit I may be a little biased, but I’m confident in saying that “Shake” is one of the coolest songs and videos you’ll come across this week.

The Jack Harlow co-signed 4-man indie rap group (comprised of Quiiso, Shloob, Ace Pro, and 2forwOyNE) hails from Louisville, Kentucky’s Private Garden collective and specializes in sounds both energetic and smooth. The group is a do-it-all creative force, sourcing their beats, rhymes, and music videos in house.

Produced by group member 2forwOyNE, who has multiple credits on Jack’s album Come Home The Kids Miss You, “Shake” layers tuneful 808s, breathy ad-libs, booming bass, and entrancing keyboards as a canvas for emcees Quiiso and Ace Pro to paint their masterpiece.

With sparkling rhymes and lighting-quick wordplay, the track is already fire, but the Hype Williams-inspired video, directed by group member Ace Pro, takes it to another level. The group’s kinetic energy is on full display, switching seamlessly from flashy backgrounds and fish-eye perspectives to scenes of the sunglass-clad Homies vibing with some ladies to comedic vignettes. Late 90s and early 2000s vibes all around.
