Mike Skinner signalled the end of The Streets in 2011, but now they’re officially back. On the new track “You Are Not the Voice in Your Head,” Skinner is current and at his storytelling best about the trials of love and communication.
“I said I hope girls will start to instead, because now men can’t try the first move,” he raps over the piano-driven beat. “I knew it wasn’t clever, it was wrong saying owt, her eyes rolled like a fruit machine not paying out.”
The song follows recent tracks like “Burn Bridges,” “Sometimes I Hate My Friends More Than My Enemies,” “If You Ever Need to Talk I’m Here” and “Boys Will Be Boys.” Their UK reunion tour takes place in April.
