It was another eventful week to say the least and MTV’s Video Music Awards were just the tip of the iceberg. First, Suge Knight got shot several times shortly after barging his way into Chris Brown’s pre-VMA party sending conspiracy theorists into a frenzy. Then Jeezy, along with several members of his entourage, were arrested for weapons possession in connection with a backstage shooting at Wiz Khalifa’s concert last Friday in Silicon Valley. Snow plead not guilty & eventually posted bail for all six people arrested. Hopefully we will get to hear his side of the story on The Breakfast Club Tuesday, broadcasting live from Atlanta for a special Jeezy interview commemorating the release of his fifth studio album, Seen It All. Check out the album stream below for an early listen.
It wasn’t all bad news though, this year’s VMA’s when off without a hitch – check out our liveblog coverage for more details & below for all the key performances. Even though he couldn’t make it, Drake gave an acceptance during a performance while out on tour. Speaking of being on tour, Dave Chappelle also made a surprise appearance during the Oddball Comedy Tour in Hartford, CT. It looks like the city doesn’t hate him anymore. Sticking with the music, though, Raury, Kent Money and Young Thug all released projects, while Rae Sremmurd locked down one of the toughest joints of the week.
Elsewhere this week, we saw a Friends reunion with half of the cast and it was not only awkward, but Jimmy Kimmel made the skit interesting by surprising everyone involved. DJ Mustard also tasted mustard, a fan created an animated Danny Brown video and Katt Williams gave some details about that recent Suge Knight shooting, which he says happened because of heroics by Suge himself.
We also learned Google Maps was tracing every step we take (no Bobby Brown), saw a great clip about the evolution of Madden Football, heard Born Ready aka Lance Stephenson kick a freestyle and saw NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologize for his decision on the Ray Rice suspension as he implemented tougher policy on the NFL moving forward. On that same breath of the NFL, NFL Sunday Ticket is already on the Playstation 4 and should be coming to XBOX One users soon.
That’s pretty much it for this week’s update. Be sure to check back tomorrow for our Top 10 Videos of the Week. We hope everyone enjoys the long Labor Day weekend the next few days. And if you’re going to partake in getting intoxicated, make sure you drink responsibly.
