Facto. . .
On May 25th, the life of Ronald ‘Troy Ave’ Collins changed forever after a backstage altercation at an Irving Plaza event that left his best friend and body guard, Ronald McPhatter, dead on scene.
Immediately following the spring night, Mr. Collins was being charged with attempted murder, weapons possession and various other charges during the unfortunate incident. Luckily, he was eventually cleared of first-degree murder, with five felonies still pending at the moment.
However, after seven weeks, he’s finally been granted a release from jail on $500,000 bail. At the request made by Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass and approved by Justice Ronald Zweibel, he’ll be required to wear a temporary ankle bracelet. Ave’s also permitted to stay away from concert halls, bars, arenas and any other type of performance venue until he’s in the clear.
The investigation in the death of Mr. McPhatter is still being conducted, as the person who killed Ave’s body guard in a room with security footage present hasn’t been identified.
No word on when Troy’s due back in Manhattan Criminal Court for his self-defense actions, but we’re relieved he’s at least back home with his family and friends.
Collins had Givenchy Paris slides on his feet and a matching hoodie draped around his shoulders. He was helped into a cream-colored Mercedes SUV with music blaring outside the courthouse.
