Since the release of the third installment of his White Christmas mixtape series over the holidays, we hadn’t seen a project release from Troy Ave in 2016. He’s recently had buzzing tracks last spring with “Good Girl Gone Bad” and the controversial “Bad A$$” single; but the Brooklyn rapper was shot a few weeks ago lower Manhattan, which halted his career and life for the moment.
Following an arrest a few weeks ago, after the May Irving Plaza shooting, where his childhood friend Ronald McPhatter was murdered by an unidentified person, Ave has been held without bail for two charges from the incident. With his B.S.B. associates looking to avoid keeping their brand in limbo, the official #FreeTroyAve mixtape has been released. Troy decides to keep things internal on this project, with limited features to just a few joints on his 12-track project. #RIPBanga
