We were riding out one of these days and some old Usher came on shuffle while we were making the trek back to the crib. Instead of skipping the track, we let that bitch breathe. It really reminded us of how many songs Usher has in the stash that were never really singles. You can always get the party jumping with “Yeah!” and “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” but the sleepers in his albums were what we always enjoyed.
Shortly after hearing that Usher song, we had to run back his catalog to hear some of other gems we’ve enjoyed over the years. Most of them actually come from Confessions (that album was top to bottom the best body of work he’s ever released), but his other albums have some bangers in between the huge singles.
Considering Usher’s been quiet with new music for far too long, we decided to cook up a playlist of some of his gems. If you’re an Usher fan, you’re going to love it. If you’re not up on the extent of his albums like that, put yourself on to some slept on tracks from ATL’s own. And yes, “Throwback” is probably his best non-single ever.
