If you caught any of the action from last night’s 2018 NBA All-Star Game, it felt like the festivities went up in shambles before the game even started. From the weird theatrics that Kevin Hart put on before the player introductions to Fergie‘s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner,” it seemed like the event would take an L from the jump.
Luckily, the actual game between Team LeBron and Team Steph was somewhat entertaining. The pre-game festivities were the most talked about, though.
Especially Fergie, who butchered her performance.
You can tell from the reactions in the crowd that she was not doing well, with multiple players laughing, smiling and not amused. By the time the camera panned to Jimmy Kimmel, everyone watching was ashamed of what was happening.
Is this one of the worst national anthems of all time? Possibly.
Pray for Fergie.
UPDATE: She responded to TMZ about her performance at NBA All-Star.
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
