Can you believe it’s been 10 years since The Weeknd released his House of Balloons mixtape? The project set everything off for his career and now the classic effort will be making it to streaming services. Though the project showed up as part of his Trilogy album, this version will be the same as the original with the original samples and mixes.
Released on March 21 2011, HOB kicked off a three-mixtape run by The Weeknd that put him on the map. To this day, people argue on whether Thursday and Echoes Of Silence is his best project, but most day one fans always go back to House of Balloons. It’ll be interesting to see if the latter two mixtapes show up on DSP’s in their original form down the line.
On Sunday for its 10 year anniversary I’m releasing House of Balloons on all streaming platforms for the first time in it’s original incarnation. With the original mixes and samples. 🎈 pic.twitter.com/Wi3joxt1fq
