The Weeknd Will No Longer Submit Music for GRAMMYs Consideration

Even if The GRAMMYs wanted right their wrongs when it comes to The Weeknd and his deliberate After Hours snub at this year’s awards, they will not get the chance. In an interview with the New York Times, Abel has now declared himself done with the Recording Academy from here on out.

The boycott comes just in time of Sunday’s telecast.

“Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys”

“Blinding Lights” was one of the biggest hits of the year and it was not nominated in any categories. His album did not receive any nominations either. While calling out the awards as “corrupt” when the news first surfaced, plenty of his peers like Kid Cudi, Drake and more backed him.

Now the real question is if any others will follow suit and/or call out the Recording Academy during their speeches on Sunday.

For now, The Weeknd is alone in this boycott.
