Remember when the great Eminem released his “Relapse” album a few years ago but then came back to smash the game a year later with “Recovery,” showing he was still on of the top emcees in the game? We drew the same comparison to Lil Wayne’s “Carter IV” not exactly being our cup of tea, but he’s back to regain his throne as one of Hip-Hop’s tops emcees with his newest and 10th studio album “I Am Not a Human Being II.”
Early in the fall, we were skeptical about this album, upon hearing the DJ Drama hosted Dedication 4 in September. After listening to the entire project over the last few days, we’re convinced he’s still capable of making good music. Two weeks ago, he suffered multiple seizures which put a delay on the album’s promotion, even affecting first weeks sale due to lack of appearances.
It’s expected to debut in its first week at 210,000 copies sold, down from his previous album “The Carter IV”, which sold 964,000 copies in its first week. For any real listener of the genre, sales aren’t always equivalent to great music, and we feel like Weezy F really went in on his new album. Juicy J’s produced three of our favorite tracks from the album and hope they join the list of music visuals we’ve seen from the album (see: “No Worries,” “Bitches Love Me” and his latest “Rich As Fuck”). Along with Eric Lewis (ELEW) opening the album with “IANAHB,” lacing down a lovely note for Tunechi to go in, it really set the tone for the rest of the project. Fans of the Young Money general could listen to without any skips.
Now that you’ve listened to the entire project, let us know your favorite track is.
