XL Recordings boasts some of the biggest names in the history of music, which is quite staggering as an independent UK label. The London-based company, owned by Richard Russell, is celebrating its 25-year anniversary this year. In light of their success, XL has put together a collaborative project titled Pay Close Attention — a compilation of the many artists on their roster since they started out in 1989. Along with a box set is the launch of an informative website, chronicling the growth of both underground music for DJs and those who have shook the world down the years.
These names include Adele, Basement Jaxx, Bobby Womack, Dizzee Rascal, Gil Scott-Heron, Jai Paul, Jungle, King Krule, Radiohead, Sampha, Tyler, The Creator, Vampire Weekend, The xx and many others.
