10 Things We Loved From WWE’s “SummerSlam 2015”

The Taker vs. Brock feud continues

Leading up to this match, we expected either Brock Lesnar to win cleanly and send The Undertake into retirement; or The Deadman pulling away with an impossible victory, for his first ever win against The Beast. Well, both of these things happened and had the crowd shocked, confused and happy leaving Brooklyn on Sunday night.

Since ending Taker’s undefeated streak in 2014, Lesnar has essentially brought new light to WWE and the resurrecting of Vince McMahon’s signature slogan “anything can happen in the WWE.” The most shocking loss for any booked event ever in the history of wrestling was Taker losing cleanly to Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX.

Nearly 16 months had passed since the two stepped into the ring, as Vince properly allowed a build up for his two biggest stars to meet once again. The pair didn’t leave one single fan in attendance or watching on the WWE Network not in amaze, during the nearly 20-minute match. From Brock being busted wide open; to Undertaker breaking character and joining in on the infamous Lesnar laugh; the finish was the second most-talked about thing for the night. As you would expect, both fighters used various MMA tactics, but this would lead to Brock putting Taker in his Kimura lock finish for a submission. The Deadman actually tapped, as the ring announcer saw the tap and rang the bell; however, the referee wasn’t allowing outside influence to dictate his match.

While Brock and Paul Heyman were celebrating a consecutive victory, this prompted Taker to hit his opponent with a low-blow. With Brock stunned from the move, Taker would lock in his Hell’s Gate submission move, as Brock would revisit the Attitude Era with the first televised middle-finger of the decade. Lesnar would pass out from the choke hold, enabling Undertaker to walk away with the victory. But, since Brock first won the match, both sides will still argue who was the clear cut winner, which has set up for a potential Survivor Series or Royal Rumble finale in the coming months. WrestleMania 32 in Dallas isn’t out of the question either.
