5 Reasons Why DH in The National League Isn’t Such A Bad Idea

David Ortiz

Extended Career For Certain Players

The only thing that needs to be said here is, David Ortiz. He’s the prime example for why a DH is one of the best things added to the American League. He’s made a career out of it and is still productive when it counts. His fielding skills or his lack there off became an issue, but with designated hitter being there, he continues to be a productive piece of the Boston Red Sox lineup. Being a DH for so many years has likely extended Ortiz’s career a good amount of years and can do the same for players of his caliber. Not to mention, Frank Thomas is one of the best designated hitter’s of all time and he even became the first DH to be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.
