Al Haymon is in control

Before Bob Arum had public issues with Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather, his five decade long feud with Don King is one of the longest ever in sports. The two would eventually put their egos to side momentarily to provide fans with ultimate showcases (see: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns).

Luckily for viewers of the sport, Al Haymon has quietly maneuvered outside of the limelight with the help of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to become boxing’s biggest promoter. Whether he wants the title or not isn’t a question swirling around in his head, but Haymon legitimately has a mission to bring mainstream attention back to boxing.

While diehards have never tuned away from boxing, new generations are being brought up not knowing its importance (every neighborhood needs a Cutty), but Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions brand is essentially becoming the “UFC” of boxing to properly present a sport that’s had misrepresentation prior to 2015.
