76ers Announce Ben Simmons is Officially Out for the Season

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without another top pick for a season, with Ben Simmons being the latest in a series of injured rookies to come along the franchise in recent years.

The No. 1 pick in last year’s draft will not play at all this season, after tests concluded that his broken right foot hasn’t fully healed yet. GM Bryan Colangelo announced the news and said there isn’t enough time left this year for Simmons to finish healing and get back to game time condition to be out on the court.

Ben has been sidelined with a fractured foot in September and never played a regular-season game.

Considering the team is headed for another Top 5 pick in this upcoming NBA Draft, it is in their best interest to shut him down now, and continue trusting the process. Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel both missed their rookie seasons due to injury. Philly is used to this.
