Adam Silver Isn’t A Fan of Super Teams like Warriors & Cavs

The landscape in the NBA is changing and Adam Silver is at the forefront of it all. The commissioner actually listens to what’s going on in the league and keeps it as real as he can, making decisions that benefit not only the owners and/or players, but the fans as well.

Aside from putting in place new rules that will stop the rampant use of “Hack-A-SHAQ” strategies across games, Silver had a few things to say about Super Teams.

This is mainly a shot at the Golden State Warriors for landing Kevin Durant in the free agency sweepstakes, but there are other teams in the league that fall under the same category. The NBA Commissioner actually thinks this is bad idea for the NBA. Although most would argue ratings are up and it’s got the fans more engaged, he doesn’t think it is ideal.

He rather see more competition across more teams than just a handful every season.

Interestingly, a quote from the press conference that was left off from the clip includes a very interesting tidbit that may be hinting a lockout soon:

“From me, as I discussed earlier, it’s about designing a collective bargaining agreement that encourages the distribution of great players throughout the league.”
