We’re on the heels of the NBA Finals and Adam Silver is making his rounds in the media to talk about anything dealing with the league right now.
In today’s episode of ESPN’s Get Up!, the NBA Commissioner spoke on some of the topics that have been covered on the network as of recently and his answers were on point.
Concerning that talk with Rich Paul about Luke Walton, he confirmed it and said that plenty of people come up to him to voice their concerns but he never thought that conversation would get out to the media. He also said he has faith in Jeanie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers to turn the organization around for the better.
Silver also spoke on Zion Williamson and Ja Morant being drafted by small market teams, what it means for the Toronto Raptors to be in the NBA Finals and what he thinks of the upcoming free agency landscape this summer.
In talking to the New York Times, the commissioner also discussed the idea being floated around of a mid-season tournament for teams that patterned European soccer leagues and how that would change the way we look at the NBA.
The NBA is studying two format changes “fairly intensely” in the words of Adam Silver. Check your inbox: Our freshly dispatched @nytimes NBA newsletter digs into the prospect of the league someday adding a soccer-style Cup or a play-in tourney to create new paths to the playoffs

It's all fully explained in the newsletter, but one idea being evaluated is the creation of an in-season Cup competition in which the Final Four would play out at All-Star Weekend in place of the All-Star Game. Sign up here to get it all: https://t.co/KwfHrDo8bs https://t.co/lGWNcBfKuD

Considering he’s one of the most progressive commissioners in the game, that soccer-style tournament sounds like a wash to be truthful.
