Giants Overcome 3-1 Deficit To Blowout Cardinals & Win The NLCS Pennant.
Giants Ace and dubbed the best pitcher in the world currently, Matt Cain faced Cardinals Kyle Lohse in what we initially thought would be a pitcher’s duel. Starting things off in the bottom of the first, Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro hit back to back singles to put the Giants in early scoring position. Giant’s third baseman, Pablo Sandoval would capitalize on the Lackluster pitching grounding one out to Lohse as Pagan scored the first one of many runs in this game.
Jumping to the bottom of the 2nd, Gregor Blanco would single to right with pitcher Matt Cain following 2 batters later to single to singer driving him in. With the score 2-0, the Bats were ready to come alive as Marco Scutaro singled to right with a double from Pablo Sandoval iced off with a walk to Buster Posey. With the bases loaded, Hunter Pence would double to center ending his cold streak on an error by Jon Jay with all three men on base scoring. Brandon Belt would reach on an infield single with Gregor Blanco walked to follow loading up the bases once more.
Brandon Crawford would ground into a fielder’s choice with Pence scoring. Two batters later Angel Pagan would ground out into another fielder’s choice with Belt scoring once more. With the game 7-0, the Cardinals found themselves in a tough predicament they didn’t see themselves in after being up 3-1 heading into game 5. Aubrey Huff would hit another RBI in the 7th brining in Blanco as Brandon Belt put the icing on the game and series with a homer to right.
The Giants are now a perfect 6-0 in elimination games in the playoffs since their 2010 World Series win and due to the National League winning the All-Star game, the Giants will stick around in the Bay Area to host Game 1 of the MLB World Series on Wednesday night at 8pm ET on FOX.
