Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers Agree to 5-Year/$103.8M Extension

The Panthers lock up prime-ready cam newton until 2020!

Another quarterback has received a multi-year extension before Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks – and for once, it’s well deserved. Tuesday evening, the Carolina Panthers formally announced they agreed to terms with franchise QB Cam Newton on a hefty 5-year deal, worth $103.8 million.

Killa Cam’s new contract includes a $22.5 signing bonus, a $7.5 roster bonus this June 6th, $1M salary this upcoming season and receiving over $31 million in his first year. The multiyear extension will also see Newton earning $67.6 million in the first three years of his deal – including $60 million of the contract fully guaranteed.

Last year, Newton became the first quarterback in NFC South history to lead his team to back-to-back division titles, which that trend looks unlikely to change in 2016. With noticeable roster improvements over the off-season, Cam can now put his entire focus on the playbook and take his team for another deep post-season run in 2016.
