Russell Wilson Opens Up About Super Bowl XLIX Loss

Inside the Seahawks QB’s mind frame

Super Bowl XLIX was probably one of the better games we’ve witnessed in the past 10 years. The intensity, the offensive plays, the suspense at the end, the crazy drives, they were all there. Unfortunately, one team had to walk away with the loss.

This year it was the Seattle Seahawks and they did it in such dramatic fashion.

It was the last drive, the Seahawks were in the Red Zone after a ridiculous drive with two minutes left in the field. They throw on second down and Russell Wilson is intercepted. The game ends with a score of 28-24 in favor of new England. So many questions surrounded coach Pete Carroll as to why he didn’t hand the ball off to Marshawn Lynch. Seattle’s play calling is still being criticized to this day and it will continue to be until they prove other wise and win another title.

The man who considers himself responsible talked to The Player’s Tribune about his thought process going into that play and what has transpired after the fact.

Wilson believes he will be in that position again (to be in the Super Bowl), but he wants to be remembered for something different than that last pass. As a leader, he emphasizes that his job is to get better every day and his focus and passion will continue to fuel him as he steps on to that football field. He may have felt like the hard work from the year was lost and he let the team, fans and organization down, but he’ll bounce back because he is the last guy to give up.

His goal is to be significant.
