Rockies Nolan Arenado Makes Incredible Catch In 4-1 Victory Over SF Giants

The catch heard ’round the baseball world.

We’ve seen it before, but not quite like this.

The year was 1994 and former Yankees’ future hall of famer, Derek Jeter made an unbelievable catch against the Boston Red Sox during a regular season game. A catch that saw him suffer a few minor injuries after falling into the stands. At the time, that catch was probably one of the best of all time.

That was until last night during a matchup between the Colorado Rockies and San Fransisco Giants, in which the Rockies walked away with a 4-1 road win — their sixth of the season.

During the bottom of the eighth, with the Giants trailing the Rockies 3-0, Giants’ center fielder Gregor Blanco was up to bat with runners on first and second and nobody out.

On a 0-1 pitch by Rafael Betancourt, Blanco popped a foul ball towards the stands in short left field and Rockies third basemen Nolan Arenado was in route to make an attempt at catching it. Right as he made the most ridiculous catch you’ll probably witness all year, he tumbled into the tarpaulin roll behind the Giants’ bullpen and almost doubled up the runner as he made his way to third after tagging up.

After he made the unbelievable catch, the fans, announcers and even the players on and off the field were in shock as to how he was able to hang onto the ball after the tumble and almost make another play happen as he was partially seated on the tarp. Fans of both the Giants and Rockies fans in attendance, stood in ovation for Arenado for his insane efforts.

The catch will likely go down as one of the best plays of the season. If Nolan keeps things like this up, it could possibly land him his third Gold Glove Award in the past three years.

Witness the impossible happen in the video below.
