Kawhi Leonard Traded to Raptors for DeMar DeRozan, Both Unhappy

“It’s time we move on…”

Things in this Kawhi Leonard trade rumour saga have gone from a offshore betting sites making the Toronto Raptors the best bet to land his services to a player from the team calling them out over reports that he is being shipped to the San Antonio Spurs.

DeMar DeRozan is calling out his organization after reports have surfaced that he is part of a package that is being finalized in return of the former NBA Finals MVP.

Apparently, he met with the team at Summer League, who told him he was safe from trade talks:

“Be told one thing & outcome another. Can’t trust em. Ain’t no loyalty in this game. Sell you out quit for a little bit of nothing…soon you’ll understand… Don’t disturb…”

In the deal, the Spurs will receive DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 1-20 protected 2019 first-round pick (if not, it turns into two second rounders) in exchange for Leonard, and Danny Green.

According to reports, trade talks have been going on for weeks, with the deal almost falling apart several times.

Look for Toronto to blow the whole thing up come next season if Leonard leaves in the start of another “rebuild,” if they cannot convince him to stay for a max deal. This era in The 6 might be a wrap as we know it.

Coach Popovich talked to the media and said he’s thrilled to have DeRozan in San Antonio and is excited to develop Poeltl, wishing Leonard and Green the best as they move on to Toronto. He praised Kawhi’s work ethic and revealed he talked to the two players he traded when the deal was agreed upon. He will also talk to DeRozan later today.
