New York Knicks fans are excited for the upcoming NBA season. Phil Jackson made some good moves to make the team better, trading for the likes of Derrick Rose and signing Joakim Noah in the offseason. Rose is so excited to be in New York for a fresh start and a way to resurrect his career, that he went as far as to call his new squad a “Super Team.”
This happened back in July when he was introduced to the organization, comparing the current KNICKSTAPE roster to the Golden State Warriors.
After all of these months to sit and think about what he said, he’s surely changed his mind about his comments, right? Nah, not quite.
“I still believe that. Like I said, with that Super Team term, you have to be very careful, I guess, if you’re in the United States. But I feel like if you’re in any team in the NBA—it don’t have to be the NBA, it could be the college level, high school level—you should believe in yourself and have the confidence in yourself that you’re playing on a super team anywhere. So I have a lot of confidence, and I’m not taking that back.”
While most think the Knicks can actually make the playoffs this year in the Eastern Conference, the team still has to gel together and step foot on the court before anything. Let alone compete with the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers and dethrone them before any “Super Team” can be made.
If this was 5 years ago, then yea. But shoutout to Rose for being confident.
