Are we getting Triple G a real opponent this year?

Saturday night, when the world was watching Beyoncé’s LEMONADE on DVR repeat, HBO another major event with undefeated Gennady Golovkin stepping into the ring against up-and-coming fighter, Dominic Wade. Unfortunately, Wade didn’t have enough experience under his belt and it showed, as Triple G only needed two rounds to put in work before referees stopped the bout.

After successfully defending his WBA (Super), IBF, IBO and WBC interim middleweight titles for the fifth time in 16 months, he was asked whether he would want to fight Canelo Álvarez next. While this caused a huge uproar from Inglewood fans in attendance, GGG openly said he wanted his next fight to be against Saúl – who’s set to Amir Khan at a catch-weight in two weeks to defend his WBC middleweight title. Before leaving the arena, Triple G assured he just wants the winner of the May 7th Vegas showdown, but would prefer if it was Álvarez. We just hope Andre Ward is next.

Highlights from the fight!
