One locker-room altercation changes the fate of a season & career
If the New York Jets season wasn’t already off to a rocky start with new head coach Todd Bowels (see: The Wire) in to fill the void of scapegoat that management and ownership gave Rex Ryan over the years, the team is now without a starting QB. Geno Smith has now officially been ruled out 6-10 weeks following a locker room altercation with reserve linebacker IK Enemkpali. Geno was sucker punched and the LB was immediately removed from the team, as Smith was left with two fractures in his jaw. Although Geno didn’t get off to a good rookie and sophomore season, Bowels coincidentally was praising him about knowing the system and showed intriguing play throughout the training camp. Right now, the team is likely to start veteran backup Ryan Fitzpatrick as starter, which likely means this is the end of their potential AFC East competitive play with Tom Brady out of action.
