BACK TO THE ROTTEN APPLE!

The Revis Island experiment in New England is only lasting one season, because only hours after free agency started in the NFL in the new calendar year, Darrelle Revis is returning to the New York Jets after two years of being away from the club.

The All-Pro corner back left the Jets at the end of the 2012 season to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before being cut a year later and joining the New England Patriots and helping them win another Super Bowl this past season. After the end of the year, the Patriots declined a $20 million option in hopes of re-signing the standout corner, maybe re-structuring his deal to help save cap space.

Many thought Revis would be returning to Foxborough to go for another repeat with Bill Belichick and company, but the new Todd Bowles regime made it a priority to bring him back with a very pressing need at that position. Now they have the best in the NFL back home.

The blockbuster deal for Revs is 5-years at $70 million, with $39 million guaranteed and $48 million over the first three years. It’s safe to say, he got paid.
