Former Celtic Glen Davis Explains Why Doc Rivers is an Overrated Coach

“Doc Rivers is lucky as hell,” – Big Baby Davis

This week, Glen “Big Baby” Davis was guest on Fox Sports 1’s In The Zone podcast with Chris Broussard, to discuss his days in the NBA. The 31-year-old, who last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2015, admitted to not taking his career serious and wished he did things different.

However, he soon turned a few heads, when discussing his rookie year with the NBA Champion, Boston Celtics. Prior to landing Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen during the summer of 2017, the Celtics had missed their second consecutive playoffs, as Doc’s job was in danger.

The title victory his following year, solidified a stay in Boston for the next five seasons – before heading out west. During the 30-minute conversation, Davis said he didn’t understand why Rivers was considered one of the greatest coaches of all time, calling him overrated and lucky as hell.
