It has been a big week for Kevin Durant. Not only did he make the move from Oklahoma City to Oakland to take on a new challenge, but today, his new organization welcome him.
Durant is now officially a member of the Golden State Warriors and people in the Bay Area were excited for his arrival. During his introductory press conference, Steve Kerr spoke on how KD would fit into the system he has built and how his style of play would fit them. Kevin also spoke on how much the team influenced his decision to come to California after spending eight seasons in OKC.
Apparently, Steph Curry and company seemed genuine in their pitch during free agency talks, calling their talk “effortless” and how much it seemed like they were a family.
Durant also said it was a tough decision to make, but he wasn’t concerned with other people’s feelings when he made it, only his own. He thinks this is the best decision for him at this moment in life and can’t wait to grow as a basketball player and learn from the Warriors.
As far as being portrayed as a villain or how Thunder fans feel, he said he can’t help what people think of him and he knew the consequences of his decisions when he made it. At the end of the day, he cherishes his time in Oklahoma and still appreciates those relationships.
He said he talked to Russell Westbrook about the move and while he wasn’t happy with the decision, he respected it as a friend. He said there was no bad blood.
