Heading into last night’s game, the Sacramento Kings were shorthanded following their 7-player deal which landed them Rudy Gay. Both teams had Sunday off to prepare for game, but the Kings were just more focused and motivated. DeMarcus Cousins finished as the player of the game scoring 32 points and grabbing 19 boards in an impressive outing; but had 9 turnovers.

Recently acquired stretch forward Derrick Williams finished 1 point shy behind Cousins with 31 points, but was the most efficient player on the court going 12-16 from the floor, which 3-5 came from beyond-the-arch. Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis had 18 and 21 points respectively, but the rest of the team was locked down by the Kings length on defense.

Rudy Gay’s first game with the Kings will be Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz and at 6-13, the young team could start making a push to potentially sneak into this season’s playoffs.
