The first week of the season has ended and Jimmy Butler is still part of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Remember when he demanded to be traded before the season started? It didn’t happen. Teams are still inquiring, though, as evident by news of today’s offer by the Houston Rockets.
Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the bomb earlier that the Rockets sent renewed offer to the T-Wolves, offering four first round draft picks, with limited protections.
What players would be included as part of that deal remains to be seen.
As of now, Minnesota has not entertained many of the offers thrown their way, as they value Butler higher than what teams are willing to give up. Coach Tom Thibodeau has stressed he doesn’t want to tank for draft picks and wants to continue winning, in hopes he gets some immediate contributors in exchange for Jimmy.
For those who have been keeping up, Jimmy Buckets has been beasting for the Timberwolves, with not much of a supporting cast. They are currently 2-3.
The Miami Heat still remain a player in trade talks, but the two teams still find themselves apart in terms of value and who to trade in exchange.
Truthfully, late first rounders don’t seem too appealing in the long run. It’s not like the Rockets are headed to the lottery in the foreseeable future. Four first rounders sounds appealing until you think about where they will fall in the draft for the next few years.
